Photos evoke memories

There are times in our lives, speical occassions and the like, where we all get the camera out to record the moment, you could call it a souvenier of that specific time. Its been happening for hundreds of years and most of us can put our hands on such photos from our childhood and perhaps indeed that of our parents too.

How often do we get all these photos out and look at them? In todays world this is a much easier task to do with the majority of cameras now digitalised and we have them at the touch of a button stored on our computers. It seems the day of the traditional photo album, where the whole 35mm film of photos were printed and stored. We can now be far more selective with a slap-dash attitude.

I recently got out all our family photo albums from my childhood, setting upon the task of scanning them to add to my ever growing digital library. It's funny how this has, for the whole family, evoked such precious memories, love and quite some laughter as you'll see from some of the photos on this page.

How many of you carry a photo of a loved one, a special moment or place in your wallet/purse? Perhaps you use a beloved photo as a phone screen-saver? Photos are placed as a fairly high priorty for quite a lot of us. Of course this is always going to be the case for me, but even before my professional days, photographing holidays, friends, family (well, with me it was everything and anything!) was a matter of course. Most of us now don't even need to have a camera, as the ones built into our mobile phones are often adequet to get pretty good shots.

So what do we do with them? We don't have huge amounts of wall space just for our photos! More commonly we can now make 'photo-books' and store precious memories in them, give them as birthday, anniversary, thank you presents. There is so much more you can do than simply slotting photos in a 6x4 plastic photo sheet in a 'traditional' album. I've spent many an occassion flicking through someone elses photos, combining them into a photo-book, bringing the magic and memories come back to life for them.

Have you fished out your old photos/albums recently? Is it too much bother? Wouldn't it be nice to see your photos in a coffeetable style book - you could pick it up whenever you had a few minutes and revisit that holiday, those family occassions and the precious times with those who've now departed. It's fairly easy to do - so why not go and make your memories come alive again - make a photo-book, if not for yourself, for a loved one as a suprise.

If time and technology are a big 'no-no' for you, come talk to me, I'm sure I can help.
